Elizabeth David Dembrowsky
Secretary of the Board
Admitted to the bar in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Florida, and California, Elizabeth's legal work focuses primarily on helping new and emerging social entrepreneurs. As a non-profit executive with over a decade of experience, she has vast experiences in this area and has helped ensure the success and safety of numerous organizations.
She also serves as the Executive Director for Keren Or, Inc., The Jerusalem Center for Blind Children with Multiple Disabilities, a position she has held since 2012.
Elizabeth holds a Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School where she attended night school while working fulltime; a Masters in Writing from the University of Warwick, UK where she received the Student Busary Award; and a Bachelors in Psychology from Boston University where she graduated summa cum laude and studied on a full-tuition, four-year scholarship.
Elizabeth is a member of the Administrative Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association, a Board member of Advancing Jewish Professionals of Greater New York, and a volunteer attorney with the Hebrew Immigration Aid Society. Her immigration works focuses on asylum and family petitions.
Elizabeth is a published poet and novelist.


Gloria Thakuria
Board Treasurer
Gloria has 10+ years experience working in philanthropy and is currently the Senior Scientific Consultant at a small private foundation that awards grants to research scientists in academic institutions and hospitals. After working in various research laboratory settings - including Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, a small biotech in San Francisco, Pfizer in Brooklyn, and Columbia University in NYC - she decided to leave the lab bench for the philanthropic and non-profit sector and has never looked back. Along the way, she has interned in the Office of Technology Transfer at Rockefeller University, edited content and materials for a medical education agency, and volunteered for several organizations including the All Stars Project, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and New York Cares. Gloria has an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business and a Bachelor's in Chemistry from Boston University.

Brenda Doucette
Board Chair
Brenda graduated from Bridgewater State University with a B.S. in Geography. She is a certified Earth/Space Science teacher and is currently teaching in Fort Myers, Florida. She earned her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership at Florida Gulf Coast University in 2017. Brenda serves several community programs. She is an adult leader with the Boy Scouts of America and she also serves as the marketing chair on the Learning of Life Talent Show Committee. She currently serves as the Board Chairman for Good Counsel, a nonprofit dedicated to providing affordable access to legal advocacy for social entrepreneurs and new and emerging non-profits.
